Something New...

My buddy Andy and I took a small road trip this past weekend.  And I attempted something new with my camera. A TRUE panorama. Albeit a small one.

I took three shots and stitched them together using Canon's PhotoStitch software, to make one long scene of the coastline in Martin's Head, New Brunswick.

I used my usual gear, my Canon 50D with the Canon EF50mm f/1.8 lens and my trusty Slik Able tripod with panning head.

I used the landscape orientation to take the shots, since I haven't got the proper head/bracket that would allow me to use my camera in portrait mode and maintain the proper axis for a correct panorama.

Here are the innitial shots in order from left to right...

I think the results came out pretty good for my first try. It was pretty overcast and I didn't do any software processing aside from using Canon's PhotoStitch.

I took the shots in aperture priority mode, using a Canon EF 50mm F/1.8 leans set at f/22 and ISO 100.

And the stitched result...
Martin's Head Panorama
I think it came out pretty well for a first attempt. I can see the seams. But I haven't learned how to eliminate those yet.

I'll try again someday when the weather is nicer. Here is my second attempt...
