2nd Try at Panoramic Photography...

My local photo club has an assignment coming up in which we (the members of said club) are encouraged to try our hands at panoramic photography.

I have attempted panoramic photography once before (here are the results), and the results were less than stellar. However, I decided to give it another go.

My dad and I went for a drive yesterday and ended up at the windmill farm in Prosser Brook, New Brunswick.

While we were there I took out my tripod, mounted my camera on it, and shot 7 photos. The result was the following panorama. I used Canon's Digital Photo Professional software to process the RAW images and then moved to Gimp and the Pandora plug-in for Gimp to do a bit of post processing and stitching the 7 images together.

The Gimp is a free and open source alternative to Photoshop. If anyone is interested, it can be downloaded HERE.

This result was actually version number 2. I did another using the same 7 shots. But, I didn't overlap them as much. I preferred version #2: So I posted this one.

I also decided to use one of the frames of the panorama as a standalone image for a different assignment.

This assignment is for November and the theme is "Stripes". I chose this image for the assignment because (to me) it displays some of the various  stripes that are part of nature. I called this image "Stripes in Nature".

If I turned around... I would have seen several of these...
